Reduced risk of cancer in vitamin D and calcium supplementation

Those involved in setting health policy for oral vitamin D intake (IOM) have been saying that until there are more randomized controlled trials (RCTs) reporting beneficial effects, they are unwilling to accept other evidence showing beneficial effects of vitamin D for non-skeletal health conditions [Ross, 2011]. To date, we have three RCTs on whether vitamin D plays a role in preventing cancer.

Dr. William Grant is an epidemiologist and founder of the nonprofit organization Sunlight, Nutrition and Health Research Center (SUNARC). He has written over 140 peer-reviewed articles and editorials on vitamin D and health. Dr. Grant is the Science Director of the Vitamin D Council and also serves on their Board. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from UC Berkeley.

    I currently take 5000IU VitD3 per day, but I do not take Calcium as I do not know what recommended dose is required to take with the Vit D3.
    Grateful for any advice.
