There is a great scepticism, even among vitamin D experts, on the use of tanning beds for making vitamin D.
The scepticism probably comes from doubts about risks as communicated in the media.
Having researched the media’s misinterpretation of the risks involved with indoor tanning, I can assure you that they are grossly exaggerated.
In fact, even IARC (the International Agency for Research on Cancer) has in their Monograph 55 stated that “chronic (i.e. regular) sun-exposure reduce the risk of melanoma”!
