As many readers know, studies have found alarmingly high rates of vitamin D deficiency among young children around the world. For instance, a recent study out of the Netherlands found that only 50% of Dutch children adequately supplement with vitamin D. How do we solve such a dilemna?

more information to the public cannot hurt
i have recently identified a pt in my practice who works for local print media and has a fx and previously took a smallish dose of vit D we discussed testing and an increased dose of D and we will be doing an article in the paper soon which I am hopeful will have some impact ( every little bit counts)
people are for the most part ” up to here” with being told what to do by “authority figures” so hopefully it won’t back fire wish me luck
Ken,
Best of luck. Not surprisingly, I have found the past year or so that people generally are more willing to consider supplementation, sunbathing and the need to be aware of vitamin D when they get the whole picture, not just a standard, “this is how much you need to supplement with.”
I think this article does a pretty good job of that: http://www.nature.com/news/2011/110706/full/475023a.html
